Great Lotus Performance Foam is high density, breathable, moisture wicking, elastic, antibacterial foam with low compression set. The superior foams physical properties have been engineered and continue to evolve through their R&D department, allowing breathability and moisture wicking that does not deteriorate during the lifetime of the product. Whatever the application, engineered LotuSof foams satisfy all of their customers’ comfort, cushioning, support and aesthetic property requirements.

STANDARD FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Breathable. Open interlinking cells enables transfer of moisture away from the body in footwear and protective/sports equipment, helping to balance temperatures, reduce moisture build up and remain comfortable.
Moisture Absorbing. As the open cells can breathe, so can they absorb moisture, enhancing the comfort factor when the product cannot be vented during wear.
Antifungal. LotuSof foams are treated with biocides that inhibit fungal and bacterial growth and eliminate odor caused by perspiration.
Low Compression Set. LotuSof has low compression set ratios and will recover to almost its original thickness after repeated or prolonged compression. The thickness and density of the foam will determine the level of comfort and cushioning.
Durable. LotuSof is designed to have appropriate abrasion, tear and tensile strength and will not break down under normal wear conditions and is guaranteed for “life of footwear” performance.
Functional. LotuSof can be “specific application engineered” by combinations of density, hardness and formulations. Additional aesthetic properties can be designed and incorporated through foam colors and lining combinations.
STANDARD PRODUCT RANGE
PEDAIR –Most commonly used performance foam, produced in multiple densities and hardness's .
VOMO – High Resilience Foam. Offered in same densities and prices as PEDAIR, but offering significantly higher resilience.
VERSAFLEX – Plush, soft, slow recovery foam.

GREAT LOTUS ENVIRONMENTALLY PREFERRED MATERIALS (EPM’s)

Great Lotus produces its high density, high performance foams using the most efficient, health conscientious, worker friendly methods. This philosophy also encompasses producing environmentally friendly products.
Non Toxic
Great Lotus produces Moldable Polyurethane foams from ether type, MDI isocyanate which is nontoxic. This type does not produce harmful gases during production and is safer for both the workers and the environment.
Recycled Content
Since the company started production in 2006, Great Lotus has incorporated recycled content in all foam production. This recycled content includes ground rubber (from tires) and ground PU scrap. The foam is carefully formulated to maintain performance characteristics, so that the physical properties are not affected by the recycled content. Great Lotus standard is 5% recycled content.
Water-Based Lamination
All lamination including foam to foam and fabric to foam is produced using water-based adhesives, making the process and the resulting finished product, worker and environmentally friendly.

Soy Based Polyol NATURAL 30 and NATURAL 50

Great Lotus has commercialized foams using soy based polyol called Natural 30. The NATURAL range has similar properties to foams produced with 100% petroleum based polyol. Great Lotus has been able to replace 30% to 50% of oil based Polyol with soy based polyol. Research is ongoing to further reduce the reliance upon petroleum based polyol. The soy polyol is sourced from a renowned US Chemical company and they have made the following statement regarding its environmental impact:

“We are actively working with our raw material suppliers to make sure we only use soy farmed in the U.S. We do this because we know that in this region soy is farmed responsibly and there is no exploitation of people or destruction of the environment. Using soybean oil does not impact the food supply negatively, but positively. That's because soy oil is only 17%-20% of the content extracted from a soy-bean when it's crushed. Apart from a 3% rigid kernel, the remaining material that is extracted is protein meal used to feed mostly animals. As a result, the more soy beans are crushed to get oil out of them, the more food is produced. Using more oil from soy beans increases the amount of food that is produced.”

R&D

Through its dedicated R&D department Great Lotus continues to develop more EPM’s including research into biodegradable PU foams and increasing the soy polyol content of the Natural range.
